If your kids are rail fans, hop down to Marina Bay Sands today and tomorrow for the Japanese High Speed Rail Exhibition. It is held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo, level 3. Admission is free!
Once you arrive, you will receive a pamphlet and be tasked to find 5 chops within the exhibit to stamp in the spaces in the pamphlet. This is a very Japanese thing to do. When we were vacationing with the kids in Japan, finding chops was one of their favourite activity. Chops could be found at tourist destinations, train stations, hotels, restaurants etc. MF was super excited to get going with the chop activity here.
After you complete the activity, bring the completed pamphlet to the desk at the exit to redeem a free gift. MF chose a cute pair of socks with train design.
Next, the kids spent some time checking out the huge Plarail display set.
Next to it was a booth set up by Isetan selling Tomica and Plarail toys on discount.
Nano Blocks also had their own display train set. Theirs was more interactive as MF could control the miniature train in the centre. He was super amused by it.
There was a virtual shinkansen ride but the kids weren’t interested (maybe the gadget looked creepy to them?).
The highlight at the exhibit was the shinkansen simulator where you could experience being a shinkansen driver! I asked if kids could participate, they said yes but we needed to make a reservation. And the next available time slot was 3 hours later! Hence, do go early to make your reservation if you wish to try this out.
I expect there would be a crowd tomorrow so do be there early to try to beat the crowd and get a slot for the shinkansen simulator.
