I’m a kimchi addict. I love my Korean dramas and I love Korean food! Many years back, when MF was still a baby, I visited Ju Shin Jung at West Coast. Though I remembered the food was mediocre, I was glad to be able to enjoy Korean BBQ while MF played at the ball pit. Few years later, Ju Shin Jung opened another branch at Guillemard Road.
Ju Shin Jung Guillemard Playground
Located in an area with a high concentration of eateries with play areas, Ju Shin Jung Guillemard kept up with the competition with a play area very similar to the one at their West Coast branch.
The play area was surrounded by glass and you could easily keep an eye on your kids while sitting at one of the nearby tables.
The playground was very inviting, with beautiful wall paper surrounding the play area.
There were two large ball pits at this playground.
Separating the two ball pits was a castle-like structure, surrounded with soft foam for safety.
However, there were no toys whatsoever inside the ‘castle’. A bit of a waste of space if you ask me? Maybe they should put some toys inside? I know I know.. Give me an inch and I ask for a mile. Just suggesting.
Ju Shin Jung Guillemard Weekday Lunch Promotion
While Ju Shin Jung was generally popular for their Korean BBQ, I was there alone with two year old MY, so Korean BBQ was out. We were there on a weekday afternoon, so we tried their weekday lunch promotion. They had $9.90 lunch sets and $12.90 lunch sets on weekdays.
I love Soondubu (Spicy soft tofu soup) but MY couldn’t take spicy soup. So I ended up ordering Soondubu for myself and a deep friend Saba for MY.
After taking our order, the waitress brought out the side dishes. I LOVE KOREAN SIDE DISHES!!
So shiok right? Only $9.90 and came with so many Korean side dishes! And MY enjoyed Korean side dishes as much as I did. He basically ate all the non-spicy side dishes and I ate the spicy ones.
The deep fried saba was quite good. You could even eat the head – it was super crispy, like crackers! Btw, my 4 year-old loves eating the head of deep-fried fishes. I told myself to bring him along the next time I visit.
And the Soondubu was full of tofu (duh)…
… and CLAMS! Every spoonful I ate had clams in it!
And after we finished the main dish, they brought out fruits and a sweet drink. (Okay, you can see MY was back in the playground by then. This is why I love eateries with play areas – the kids can go run around once they are done and I can continue eating in peace!)
I was SUPER satisfied with my meal! While I found Ju Shin Jung West Coast’s food nothing to rave about (but that was many years ago, not sure if they improved), I really enjoyed the lunch sets at Ju Shin Jung Guillemard! This is another restaurant where I will definitely be back!
PS: Note that there is a $1++ charge for towel, tea and water at Ju Shin Jung.
