La Barca Ristorante & Wine Bar is an award-winning Italian fine dining restaurant, located at Goodman Arts Centre.
I do not usually visit fine dining restaurants because… Fine dining and kids generally do not gel? However, La Barca is different! Why? Because they provide entertainment for the kids on weekends!
La Barca Kids Playroom
Being stay-home mums, Natasha (so.natty.sg) and I innocently went to La Barca on a Friday when we were looking for a kids-friendly restaurant for lunch. But the staff was very nice and opened up the playroom for us, even though it wasn’t usually opened on Fridays.
MY dashed in the moment the door opened and helped himself to all the toys available!
He rummaged through the toy box, hoping to find some treasure.
Not much of a treasure, but this broken book kept him entertained for a while.
Just in case the toys in there weren’t enough for him, the staff even switched on the TV and played some Disney cartoon.
There was a temporary diaper-changing station inside the Kids Playroom! Not very glam, but give them some credit for effort.
While MY was busy playing, we found a table right outside the playroom where I could watch him through the door.
La Barca Bouncy Castle
Since I was there on a Friday, I didn’t get to see the bouncy castle bit. But according to La Barca’s Facebook Page, it looks like they have bouncy castles on weekends!
It looks like there is water squirting out so you may want to bring extra clothing for the kids!
And they have photos of ANOTHER bouncy castle located in the shade. Awesome!
Looks like a revisit to La Barca on a weekend is due!
La Barca Ristorante & Wine Bar Food and Menu
We were presented with a weekday lunch set menu ($38++) which was very tempting, if not for the fact we just had brunch before coming here.
They had kids menu, ranging from $16 – $20++.
Their pasta price ranged from $25 – $45++ and pizza from $20 – $40++. Click here to view their full menu. Natasha and I (and the kid) shared a pasta and a pizza.
Warm bread was served at the start of the meal!
The pasta we ordered was one of their signature dishes. I have never heard of or tried green angel hair pasta before. It was soggier than normal spaghetti and really absorbed the sauce. I loved the sauce!
The pizza was pretty huge and we couldn’t finish it. I think the pasta and pizza we ordered could easily feed 3 adults!
La Barca is not your usual casual family-dining destination. The setting was pretty formal and price of the food was on the high side, but not extremely exorbitant. For e.g. the pizza we ordered was very reasonably priced at $22++ and the serving was huge.
It is a restaurant I recommend for special occasions, like when you want to eat something nice with your spouse but got to bring the kids along. The kids will be well-entertained by the playroom and bouncy castles while you enjoy your romantic meal. 🙂
