I love themed cafes. Never mind if I am not a fan of the theme, I just like visiting themed cafes in general. So when I passed by Charlie Brown Cafe at One KM while on my way to Fika Swedish Cafe & Bistro for lunch, I decided to pop back to Charlie Brown Cafe for coffee after that.
I think this cafe shouldn’t be called Charlie Brown Cafe. How many people really like Charlie Brown? Think most people prefer… Snoopy?? Look how MY got all chummy with Snoopy once we reached the cafe.
As for Charlie Brown? Kid simply refused to take a photo with him.
In fact, this cafe is more like Peanuts Cafe, because you will find decoration of the whole Peanuts gang here. But I guess ‘Peanuts Cafe’ doesn’t sound right. But oh! This reminds me of something.
I’m going to be totally random and out-of-point, but this is my blog and I just can’t resist sharing something. If you want to skip my nonsense, just scroll down to the heading ‘Charlie Brown Cafe Decoration’ to start reading the review.
Back to my nonsense. Remember the game called ‘Draw Something’ that was super popular 3 years back? When I was playing, I liked to try to be funny with my friends. So for example, when drawing “Potato”, I drew this:
And when drawing “Tail”, everyone would like draw a dog and point to its tail right? But I drew this:
So when the word ‘PEANUT‘ popped up, guess what I drew?
WAHAHA!! The opponent (my hubby) gave up and asked me for the answer. *Cheap thrill*
Alrighty… That’s all for sideline entertainment. Back to the game.
Charlie Brown Cafe Decoration
I LOVE the decor at Charlie Brown Cafe. Look up once you step into Charlie Brown Cafe. Check out the awesome lights!
Throughout the cafe, the wooden tables had Peanuts characters on them.
MY seemed to have a new-found affection for Snoopy and headed straight for a Snoopy table.
One of the wall was covered with Peanuts comic strip. There was also a TV screening Peanuts cartoon on it.
On the other walls, you would find bronze Peanuts statues being displayed.
Charlie Brown Cafe Menu & Food
You can find the full menu for Charlie Brown Cafe on their website (which, imho, needs serious revamping. No offense, but their website reminded me of Geocities. Usually themed cafes have very nice websites. I mean, why invest so much money in themed decorations and licensing but not invest a bit in a nice website, right?). Oops, I digressed again. > Click here to view their full menu. <
Let me just show you the food items that have the Peanuts theme on them.
One thing to note about their menu: GST applies, but there is NO SERVICE CHARGE.
MY got hold of the menu and started to look through it to see what he wanted. And he opened right to the page with the Snoopy lava cake. What did I say about his new-found affection for Snoopy??
He wanted to have the cake, but we were very full from our lunch at Fika. And he already had dessert there!
So I said no. We were here for coffee, full stop. And it must be CHARLIE BROWN Coffee.
Look at that overflowing foam from the Cappuccino. Mmmm….
And right on cue, the TV said.. Time to toast!
Just to show you the difference between a Regular cup and Large cup. So you can decide if it is worth paying 50 cents more for Large.
Okay, coffee was actually not the only thing we ordered. If you read my post about our lunch at Fika, you would know that my friend’s kid was not very full from her kids meal. So she ordered a Cheesy Crinkle Fries. Which of course MY couldn’t keep his hands off. (Neither could I. Just look at that oozing cheese, how to resist?) I was a bit perplexed over the choice of using a BASKET for cheese fries though. The cheese was leaking out from the holes – such a waste!
But the leaking cheese was a sign of how generous they were with the cheese. For the first time in my life, I actually had cheese left in the basket after finishing the fries! I love cheese fries, and I would always be scrapping every inch of cheese off the plate with my last few fries. However over here, every fry we ate was coated with cheese. And we still had cheese leftover. Amazing.
Charlie Brown Cafe Merchandise
If you are a huge Peanuts fan, check out the shelf of Peanuts merchandise for sale in the cafe.
I didn’t try enough food at Charlie Brown Cafe to be able to give a fair review. But decoration wise, it was definitely very attractive. Much better than, say, The Little Prince Creamery. I was happy enough with my coffee and found it reasonably priced, considering it was themed. And I love it that they did not charge service charge!
Couldn’t leave a themed cafe without a photo of myself in it. So here’s a wefie to end it all. #NeedsAPhoneCameraThatCanTakePhotosOfMovingKids
