Flying to Taipei with babies or young toddlers? You will be glad to know that Taoyuan International Airport is well-equipped with nursing rooms and play areas for young children!

Nursing Room at Public Area

The nursing room at Taoyuan International Aiport Terminal 1’s public area was located at Basement 1, inside the food court.

There were two private rooms for breastfeeding which can be locked.

There were power points inside the breastfeeding rooms if you need to use an electric pump.  However, it was not an international power point, so please prepare a travel adapter.

Playground at Public Area

Just next to the above nursing room was a small play area for babies and toddlers.

It was nothing much, just a little play house, but it was good enough for my two year old to loosen up after being stuck on the plane for hours.

This play area was conveniently located within the food court, so you could have a bite while your kids play here.

Nursing Room in Transit Area

At the transit area of Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 1, there was a nursing room located beside the toilet near the Information Desk.

  1. Wow what an impressive child friendly airport, I thought Singapore’s Changi was good but this one beats them hands down.
Being child friendly really does help everyone (even those with out kids) to pass the time whilst you are all waiting for your flight.

I was really quite impressed by Taoyuan airport. I only read about the Hello Kitty Lounge in Terminal 2 and was a bit sad that my flights were at Terminal 1. But surprisingly I managed to find these child-friendly facilities at Terminal 1!

Although I am Singaporean, I kind of have to agree with you. Changi Airport used to have an awesome nursing room and playground at Terminal 2 transit area, but I couldn’t find it anymore when I was there for this trip, which was quite disappointing. I always get a bit disappointed when I see child-friendly facilities in my country torn down and replaced by more profitable shops or restaurants.

I know right.. I travel with my kids a lot and I also don’t wish for my kids to disturb the people having a nap in the transit area. But it is so hard to keep their excitement down (they would be going crazy, exclaiming, “Aeroplane! Is that our plane?? Which one is our plane???” which I KNOW is annoying for people who are trying to Zzz… So it is great to have a playground to let them run loose instead of running around disturbing people.

Very impressive indeed! I shall remember this if we are are to travel to Taiwan and arriving TaoYuan Airport. Though my kids are older, but I definitely need the water to refill and carry-on to exit the airport;).

I took flights out of Taoyuan airport terminal 1 twice (to go to Okinawa and to go back to Singapore). At both my departure gates, there were water coolers there to fill up our water bottles. But because we were taking budget airlines that do not provide water, the queues at the water cooler were SUPER LONG!!! Hahaha…

  3. Wow! I think this nursery is one of the best I have ever seen (not even workplaces have something so nice). This pictures should serve as a goal / inspiration for businesses / public spaces.

    • bumblebeemum says:

Yes, it would be great if more public spaces like airports and train stations can have family-friendly facilities like these! It leaves a really great impression on travelers. I did not mention in the post, but Taiwan airport has priority queue for families with young children at the immigration checkpoint! I was SO happy when they redirected me to an empty counter, skipping the long queues.

  4. It just makes sense to have something like this at an airport, more should follow this.

    • bumblebeemum says:

Yes it does, doesn’t it. With globalisation and families all over the world, it is increasingly common for parents to have to fly with young babies and toddlers. These facilities are really great and hope to see more airport installing them.

  5. Wow, these parents’ rooms are awesome. Australia could learn a lot from Singapore!

    • bumblebeemum says:

Thank you for droppping by. This parents’ room is in Taiwan (Taipei), not Singapore. We do have nice parents’ rooms in Singapore Changi Airport as well though. 🙂
