{Family Fun Friday #9} District 10 (UE Square) Weekend Bouncy Castle

Welcome to Family Fun Friday! Every FRIDAY, I will recommend a FUN place / activity for families. And at the end of the post, you will find a linky with more Family Fun ideas!  If you have Family Fun recommendations, feel free to add your link at the bottom of the post.

Recently, my friends and I met up to celebrate my birthday.   Since it was my birthday and I got a say where to go, I decided to choose a kids-friendly eatery (duh) that I haven’t been to yet.  That’s how we ended up at District 10 at UE Square.

District 10 UE Square

District 10 Bar & Restaurant is located at UE Square near Clarke Quay.  This makes it a great place for brunch if you are in the Clarke Quay vicinity on weekends.

District 10 Weekend Bouncy Castle

District 10 at UE Square is a popular hangout for families because they have FREE bouncy castle!  The bouncy castle is set up on weekends from 11.30am to 4.30pm.

The bouncy castle was set up in a sheltered corner, away from the rain and sun.  However, it was raining very heavily the morning I was there, and the rain managed to splash into the bouncy castle.  According to the staff, it was the first time this happened.  YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.  So I encountered a once in 5 years storm??? Couldn’t believe how unlucky I was!

Although the rain had stopped by the time we were there, some of the rain managed to seep into the bouncy castle.  The staff initially didn’t want to open the bouncy castle, because they worried that it would be too slippery. It was a scenario where when you jump on the bouncy castle, the water inside would seep out of the gaps as bubbles.  But we had 5 kids in our group and we were there specially for the bouncy castle, so we told them we didn’t mind the bubbles and they allowed us into the bouncy castle.

IN SHORT: The bouncy castle is sheltered, so it shouldn’t be a problem even if it rains.  BUT if you encounter a once in 50 years kind of thunderstorm that morning, then too bad, the bouncy castle WILL get wet.

The kids had fun jumping around the bouncy castle, oblivious to the little bubbles of water.  They could run up the steps and slide down.  (Though little MY did slip and fall while getting off the slide on his first run.)

MF even did somersaults in the bouncy castle!

Happy kids = Happy meals for the adults.  This is why I love eateries with play areas!

If you would like to be close to the kids, request for an outdoor table near the bouncy castle. (They do take reservations, so you can call beforehand to request.)

If you are not into al fresco (this is mighty hot Singapore after all), they also have an indoor seating area. But oh well, like I mentioned, it was pouring the morning before when we were there and pretty cooling, so everyone was sitting outdoors while we were there.

There were also colouring sheet (which was actually the kids menu), similar to The Bank Bar + Bistro.

Markers were also provided.  But be warned that more than half the markers were not working.

District 10 Brunch Menu & Food

District 10 served modern European cuisine.  Since we were there for a weekend brunch, we were presented a brunch menu.

They had breakfast favourites which included the usual breakfast platter, waffle and eggs benedict.

And there were savoury food and pizza for all-day dining.

As well as drinks and dessert.

We started with items from the breakfast menu.   A few of us all wanted to try eggs benedict, so we ordered both their Florentine Style Eggs Benedict and District 10 Eggs Benedict. The difference was that the florentine style eggs benedict had pine nuts on top, whereas the district 10 eggs benedict had smoked salmon.  Otherwise they tasted the same.  I loved both of them.

My friend ordered the Farmer’s Style Breakfast.  I didn’t taste it, but my friend said it was not bad.  But considering it cost $22++, I think I would stick to Eggs Benedict, which was filling enough for me.

The one thing you SHOULD NOT order was the wholemeal tortilla wrap.  It was small and by the looks of it didn’t look nice.  (Again, it was my friend’s order so I didn’t get to taste it.  But my friend said it was not nice.)  A few days before this visit, I was at Afterwit and the tortilla there was WAY better.

Under the savoury menu, we also ordered the District 10 Brunch Beef Burger.  I loved the burger, and even more the truffle fries!

We all liked the truffle fries so much that we ordered one more serving to share. (This is why I love dining out with a big group of friends.)

They also had kids menu.  WHICH I FORGOT TO TAKE PHOTO OF *sighz* because it was the colouring sheet that the kids were doodling on.

And how can I have brunch without coffee?? I ordered their latte, which albeit a bit small (sorry, I need A LOT of caffeine) was pretty good.

One thing I loved about this place was that they provided a glass of water, complete with plastic cups for the kids, without us asking.

In Summary…

This is a great place for families with children to hang out for weekend brunch.  The bouncy castle and colouring activity were sufficient to keep the kids occupied while the adults caught up over coffee.  The food was generally good (minus the tortilla wrap) and not extremely exorbitant.

It actually doesn’t look toooo crowded from your photos! Maybe because of the rain? Another spot to add to my growing list of places to go!! Sigh.. so many places so little time.

Yes, I was very surprised by how quiet the place was. Possible it was due to the rain in the morning. I haven’t been there on other occassions so I don’t know what’s their usual crowd.

It’s amazing how there are so many places to go in Singapore huh… I already think I go out very often but there are so many places I have yet to explore. Never mind lah.. slowly slowly.

The kids burger looks good indeed! I hope they do something about the castle and the markers (sometimes it’s so weird that they provide such ‘services’ but yet do not check it).

The burger was pretty good! I was super amused because we ordered both the adult and kids burger – and the kids burger was like a miniature version of the adult one.. It was just too cute.

Errr, there was nothing wrong with the castle… Just that it rained heavily that morning so can’t really blame them I guess. But yeah, the markers.. those need replacing.

The burger looks yummy! Think my children would love the bouncy castle… And I will have a hard time to get them to sit down and eat!

Oh yeah… You can always use the ‘Finish up your food then you can play’ threat.

I’ve been to District 10 outlet at Star Vista, the pasta and pizza are really yummy! Nearly wanted to celebrate AJ’s 1st party at the UE branch but they were booked for the weekend I wanted. :) The bouncy castle and kid activities are a big draw for families indeed!

The bouncy castle makes this place a winner for the kids already! So nice to find a place where they are so thoughtful to their little guests.

I’m forever on a look out for such places! It’s the only way I can enjoy a peaceful meal and catch up with my friends, since the kids are with me 24/7.
