Car-Rousel (Kallang Wave)
Recently I have been hanging out at Singapore Sports Hub, which btw was a totally awesome place to hang out with the kids. Great F.O.C. water playground, food court with playground, library with playground (sort of), you name it, they’ve got it. Okay, maybe except for a decent nursing room. THAT, of all things, they don’t have.
So MY and I were chilling at Kallang Wave, where our original intention was to visit Chocolate Origin for their kawaii latte.
BUT, we got distracted when we saw a cars-themed cafe on the second floor.
The first thing that attracted MY’s attention was the petrol pump! Which made me wonder… Did Shell sponsor them??
As with all themed cafes, I spent some time checking our their decor.
They had an interesting cake display:
Some cool sofas that MY was super amused by.
A big wall decorated with tools:
And my favourite piece of decor was the lamp made of bicycle rims!
The cafe was pretty small and the seating was somewhat cramp. Maybe I’m just picky, but hey, we recently visited the awesome Car Car Hotpot, a cars-themed steamboat restaurant in Taiwan. So I couldn’t help comparing and Car-Rousel clearly paled in comparison. But oh well, this one did not require me to take a plane to visit.
As for the their menu, they only sold sandwiches, cakes and drinks.
Food-wise, I absolutely LOVED their cakes!
And cakes are not complete without coffee.
To complete the experience, MY decided to go and dine at the car-booth style sofa.
Overall, Car-Rousel was a unique cafe with a cool vintage feel. Unlike most cafes in Singapore that are more of a girlfriends hangout, this one was more like a guy friends hangout. Nice place to grab some yummy cakes and have coffee. And for older kids who are into automobile, they can also help themselves to the magazines available.

Tuk Tuk Cha Cafe (Suntec City)
Moving on with our vehicles-themed cafe hop this week, we arrive at Tuk Tuk Cha Cafe at Suntec City. Just 2 stops away on the MRT Circle Line, Suntec City, like Singapore Sports Hub, is another super-dee duper family-friendly place to be. With indoor playgrounds like Cool de Sac and Polliwogs, a Marche with playground, a kids-friendly Japanese buffet restaurant Kuishin-Bo and a huge Toys R Us, it is again a place I hang out often with the kids.
Now, back to Tuk Tuk Cha Cafe. This cafe was PACKED on the weekday afternoon I was there. It reminded me of Dazzling Cafe – but much more affordable. And like Dazzling Cafe, they seemed to be famous for their honey toast, which cost like half the price compared to Dazzling Cafe. But then again, it was half the size too. And served in a cheapo plastic container instead of custom-made glass plates.
Their Shibuya Toast (okay, apparently here honey toast and shibuya toast are different things. Like seriously, what is the difference??? They are all sweet yummy toast to me.) comes in different flavours:
- Mango Tango
- Aloha Coconut
- Tuk Tuk Matcha
- Chocolate Goodies
Like omg, feel like ordering all of them right? So I just asked the lady which was their signature and she said aloha coconut. So fine, aloha coconut it shall be.
Using my limited vocabulary, I shall describe it simply as YUMMY (in capital letters)! It had real coconut between the ice-cream and toast! Great for Singapore’s hot hot weather!
We also tried their tom yam toast, but I preferred their sweet stuff.
I can’t live without caffeine. Since we’re at a Thai cafe, I went with the Thai iced tea. Which was… YUMMY! Okay, I don’t think ‘yummy’ is the right word for drinks. But whatever, you get the idea. It was not too sweet and I finished the large cup in a jiffy!
My friends ordered a smaller cup (apparently a stay-home-mum-blogger needs more caffeine than anyone else) and here’s a photo for you to compare the size difference:
And oh yes, I was saying… Honey toast referred to something else here. This was the honey toast, cut into small bite-sized chunks:
We could choose from a variety of dips and we went for the taro dip. WHICH WAS A FREAKING GOOD CHOICE. The taro dip was sooooo goooood!!! Okay, writing this is making me feel like going back again.
Okay! Enough of the food! Back to the theme. This cafe was pretty tiny, with some counter seats and one large table. That’s it.
The seats were dangerously high, not a cafe I would typically bring my kids to.
But you know what? Heck the high stools, the kids can go play in the Tuk Tuk.
The handle bars of the Tuk Tuk could be moved and there were even switches for the kids to toggle around.
To say MF loved the Tuk Tuk is an understatement. He had a totally wild ride!
You can be sure I will be back here for some refreshing Thai iced tea, delectable honey toast (or shibuya toast.. whatever), and some Tuk Tuk fun!
Information on Tuk Tuk Cha Cafe
Address: Suntec City Tower 3 #02-605A, 3 Temasek Boulevard, Singapore 038983
Getting There: Promenade MRT (CC4).
Note: Tuk Tuk Cha Cafe is located near Coffee Bean, but it is very easy to miss because it doesn’t face the main corridor. I walked across the WHOLE second floor of Suntec City and couldn’t find it. Same thing happened to my friend as well. It is actually where Coffee Bean is, but you will not see it as it is back-facing Coffee Bean. Tuk Tuk Cha is facing Winter Times.
