I’m a huge Hello Kitty fan! So when we visited Taipei earlier this year, Hello Kitty Cafe was on the top of my to-visit list. We took a train to Zhongxiao Fuxing station and it was a short walk from there (NOT stroller friendly!) to Hello Kitty Kitchen & Dining.
Once we entered, we were immediately attracted to the display of Hello Kitty themed confectionery beside the entrance!
MY super loves checking out the cakes on display at cafes. It’s how he keeps himself occupied on our *numerous* cafe-hopping trips.
There were also Hello Kitty merchandise for sale.
Our table was on the second floor, but that did not stop us from taking photos non-stop on the way in.
We went up the stairs and WOAH! I loved the decor on the second floor so much!
The seats, the lamps, the pictures on the walls… All so kawaii!!
Especially the HUGE Hello Kitty ceiling light!
There was a huge booth which I would have loved to dine at, but we did not have enough people.
I always have a thing for booth seats at themed cafes, but I have never managed to secure myself one. Recall my visits to Car Car Hotpot (Taiwan) and DC Super Heroes Cafe (Singapore). Somehow I always end up at the boring tables.
But it’s okay. At every table, there was the same detailed Hello Kitty table settings.
And imo, the best themed cafes are those that bother to decorate the TOILETS. Just like Hungry Heroes Cafe (Singapore), I was impressed by the toilets in the cafe!
After taking more than a hundred photos of all corners of the cafe, our food FINALLY arrived. (Please note that the waiting time for food here was pretty long.)
Themed food, themed cutlery… You name it, they’ve got it! That’s what I call a themed cafe. Even the rice and burger bun was in the shape of Hello Kitty!
Themed drinks… Check! I couldn’t bear to eat that Hello Kitty chocolate.
But 2 year old MY had no qualms about biting off Hello Kitty’s head.
Oh, I forgot to mention that later on, we requested to change to the more fancy Hello Kitty sofa seats. Lol! Anyway I couldn’t resist posing with all the beautiful Hello Kitty food.
And 4 year old MF gave me an eye roll when I tried to get him to take a photo together. Sheesh, sons. I’m sure he would have obliged if we were in like, an Avengers cafe instead.
Closing up on the desserts.
Overall, I can only say the food looks much nicer than they tasted. But oh well, where themed cafes were concerned, I was more interested in the looks than the taste. Service was somewhat lacking, waiting time for food was long, and there was a strict time limit for dining in. STILL, if you are a Hello Kitty fan, I am sure you would want to visit it for once in your lifetime.
