Shangri-La Hotel Singapore - Enchanted Mushroom Workshop - Bumble Bee Mum

I used to think that Shangri-La Hotel Singapore was more of a business hotel and not a particularly kids-friendly hotel.  But lately I was proven wrong, firstly by their ‘Family Stays Free’ staycation package.   And this time by the Enchanted Mushroom Workshop for children that they are conducting in line with Easter.

So what is this enchanted mushroom workshop all about? In this workshop, each child was given a huge chocolate mushroom to decorate.

Before we began, the kids were all given aprons, hats and even bunny ears since it’s Easter!

Next, they were free to help themselves to a buffet of sprinkles and decorations available at the gorgeous Alice in Wonderland (I think?) themed table.

I was super impressed by the whole set-up! We couldn’t help going ‘WOW’ when we saw the table.

There was an assortment of colourful sprinkles, jelly beans, gummies, flowers etc. that we often find at kids’ workshops.

But since this was Shangri-La, there must be more than the run of the mill decorations right? Check out the Easter themed decorations!

And check out the Easter-themed chocolate lollipops! How I wish I was a kid again! Oh wait, nothing to stop adults from eating them.

The kids happily grabbed their cups and filled it with all sorts of decorations before heading back to their table.

And they started sticking the decorations all over their chocolate mushrooms.

I was not sure if the little one was high because he was enjoying the workshop so much, so he ate too much chocolates along the way.

When they were done decorating their mushrooms, they had to go and make the ‘grass’ for the base.

And carefully, they mounted their mushrooms onto the grassy base.

Adding some finishing touches.

And tadah! They were done!

Okay, I didn’t think my boys’ mushrooms were very nice.  Here’s a more positive example by one of the girls from A Happy Mum.  SO CUTE RIGHT?

When it was completed, the staff helped to pack their mushrooms nicely into plastic containers.

Important note: If you want the chocolate mushroom to last, please bring it home and put it in a fridge as soon as possible.  We went out after the workshop, leaving the mushrooms in the car boot, and the mushrooms had melted away by the time we got home at night. :p

Buffet Time!

Once the kids were done, we could head to the buffet table for our high tea buffet (which was included with the workshop)! Okay, who am I kidding.  The husband and I didn’t wait for the kids to finish and started eating way before.

The table was specially arranged low so that the kids could reach the food easily.

There were some savoury food like sandwiches and chicken pie.  But the selection was largely confectionery since it was meant to be high tea.
