Held over six nights on 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 & 30 Oct 2016, Safari Boo is back again at River Safari Singapore for its third year! We were invited to a media preview of this year’s Safari Boo earlier this week, and without further ado, come join us on an out-of-this-world Halloween celebration!
As we made our way towards the entrance of River Safari, we were greeted by lights hanging from the trees which reminded me more of Christmas rather than Halloween. Indeed, this was a ‘Merry-Not-Scary’ event – specially catered for kids and not meant to scare them in any way.
As we made our way through the ticket gantry, we were greeted by an UFO. The theme this year was ‘Aliens and Monsters’.
The kids each picked up a pumpkin-shaped bag for them to collect their treats in the park.
Making our way down the corridor, we were surrounded by colourful lights and decorations.
Along the way, we met many Aliens and Monsters who were all ready to greet the kids!
Some of them even had treats for the kids – no need for any tricks.
Whether or not they had treats, all the Aliens and Monsters were photo-ready and more than happy to pose for a snapshot with the kids.
5 year old MF was daring enough to go up to all the Aliens and Monsters to take photos with them, but 3 year old MY was scared of them initially and would only go up if I accompanied him.
At Alien Funshop, tables and chairs were set up for children to do some crafting. There were three crafting activities for them to try out: Jigsaw monster, monster toy and Alien headband.
Just beside the Alien Funshop, there was a station where we could spin a wheel to get a prize – courtesy of Vitagen. Be prepared to queue for this though.
At Aliens Inc, there were activity stations for kids to play games where they would learn important wildlife conservation messages at the same time.
After the kids complete an activity, they would receive a small prize.
Add a face painting to go with your fancy outfit at Monster Transformation! MY went to have a little spider painted on his face. Again, be prepared to queue for the face painting.
Catch an entertaining monster-themed animal presentation at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm at the Boat Plaza.
If you’re lucky, you may get selected to go up on stage to participate!
And don’t forget to hang around at the end of the show for photo-taking with the mascots!
The highlight of this year’s Safari Boo has got to the Mermaid Mania. Happening at 7.45pm, 8.45pm and 9.45pm at the Manatee enclosure, you definintely do not want to miss this show. It is sheer magical!
Words cannot describe how graceful and alluring the mermaids were. Here’s a short video of parts of the show.
This one is pretty easy to miss as it is located outside the park. Don’t forget to visit Party Central at Safari Square (located between River Safari and Night Safari) for more games, photo booth and treats!
