Festive Dining at Aquamarine (Marina Mandarin Singapore) - Bumble Bee Mum

As the year comes to an end, we start looking forward to gatherings and feasting.  Restaurants all over roll out festive menus, and we fill our tummies with turkeys and ham while the kids look forward to log cakes and Christmas cookies.

My food khaki, Justin (Instagrammer @justinfoodprints, previously @i_post_for_love) and I were invited for a media tasting at Aquamarine for a teaser of their festive menu.

Festive Feasting Buffet [$60++ to $80++ except Xmas and Eve]. Christmas is coming again! Even earlier for @bumble_bee_mum and I as we were treated to a Christmas buffet (Dec 2016) preview at Aquamarine. 🔸 The spread available for Christmas includes Turkey with Cranberry Compote and Giblet Sauce, Hay Smoked 150 days grain-fed Angus Beef, 45 degree Sous Vide Salmon with Passionfruit Emulsion and lots of desserts such as Durian Yule Log Cake, Ricotta Mascarpone Yule Log Cake, Stollen, Christmas Rich Fruit Cake and Panettone. The desserts were seriously pretty and festive. 🔸 For full review and tips on where to bring your kids, check out @bumble_bee_mum blog. Also thanks to @globegalsg and @marinamandarinsg for the media tasting. 🔸 #buffet #turkey #christmas

Let’s start with the turkey, because what kind of festive dining would be without a turkey right? I can’t say I was looking forward to the turkey initially.  90% of the time when I have turkey, the turkey was dry and tasteless.  But the turkey at Aquamarine surprised me.

As the chef carved the turkey, he explained that they carved it in such a way that every slice would have the same distribution of skin and meat.  The result? The slice we had was tender – nothing like those dry turkeys I have been having before!

If you prefer duck to turkey, check out their Spit Roast Festive Duck instead.

Prefer seafood to meat? Then you’ll love their Sous Vide Organic Egg with Seafood Fricassee.  I admit I can’t pronounce that, but who cares what it’s called.  It was super yummy! If you follow my blog, you would know I’m more of a seafood person than a meat person, so I absolutely loved this dish.

Did someone mention Hokkaido?  I love Hokkaido-anything.  So we were delighted to find these Citrus Crusted Hokkaido Scallop with Caviar Sauce.  OMG, this was SO GOOD.  I could eat this all day.

Moving on to another one of my favourite – the melted whole wheel of Brie cheese served with sous vide apricot, rosemary on walnut bread.   Never mind the long name – this is AWESOME.

I was full just from eating turkey, hokkaido scallops and lost-count-of-how-many servings of that brie cheese.  So it was time to move on to desserts!  Usually desserts would have been my favourite part of the meal, but in case, I found their Christmas cakes too sweet for my liking.

When it comes to dessert at Aquamarine, I still like their durian cake the most.  Yum yumz.
