Universal Studios Singapore - Easter Eggstravaganza - Bumble Bee Mum

When we were in Universal Studios Singapore for the World Monopoly Day Guinness World Record challenge, the park was having an Easter Eggstravaganza event.

After we completed the Monopoly challenge in the morning, we spent the rest of the day checking out what this Easter Eggstravaganza was about.

There were a series of events being held in the park from 7 March to 17 April 2016 to celebrate Easter.  Around the park, there was plenty of Easter Egg decorations.

Some of the Easter Eggstravaganza activities were free.  I mean, not really free since you need to pay to enter Universal Studios Singapore.  Okay, I should say included with your USS admission.   Let me start with those.

Sunlight Eggspress

Sunlight Eggspress started with a short roller-skating performance, after which audiences could take photo with the skaters.

They were giving out these bed necklaces during the photo-taking, but I have NO idea what they were for.  MF took one anyway.

While we were walking around the park, we noticed some people had like a bunch of 10 necklaces hanging around their necks.  They did make quite a cool fashion statement.

Easter-themed street shows

Some of the regular street shows at the park had an Easter twist added to them.  For e.g. at the Dance for the Magic Beans Show, there were ‘Easter-themed surprises throughout the show’.  Okay, I didn’t watch the show, I just quoted that from the USS website, hence the inverted commas.  I only caught the dance outside Mel’s Place where the ladies put on bunny ears.  They also went around Mel’s Place to take photos with the patrons.

Easter-themed Meet & Greet

At the Minions and Sesame Street meet & greet sessions, the characters were dressed for Easter!

I am not someone who follows the park schedule closely when I visit theme parks.  I just roam around and if I happen to see a meet & greet, I would go and join in if the queue wasn’t too long.  Hence, I didn’t see the Sesame Street meet & greet.  But we were super lucky to be passing by the street just as the staff was calling people to start queuing for Minions Meet & Greet and I jumped right into the queue near the front!

An UnEGGspected Wedding (Ticket required)

Moving on to the Easter activities that require an additional ticket, An UnEGGspected Wedding was a musical performance held at the Pantages theatre.

To watch the show. a separate ticket which cost $10 per person needed to be purchased at the entrance.  However, if you are an USS season or annual pass holder, you do not require the additional ticket and can enter by showing your pass.

After we bought our tickets, we received a wrist band and an Easter egg hunt activity sheet (more on this later) and headed into the theatre for the show.

I found the show pretty entertaining with the use of ‘egg’ puns.  Like Eggcited, Eggspensive etc.  My favourite was:

Cast: Where are all of you from?
Someone in audience: Singapore!
Cast: Ah, Singapore.  I am not from Singapore. I’m an Eggspat.

Geddit? LOL.

Okay, MF totally didn’t get it (he was only 5 years old afterall) and was getting bored until someone came flying over the top of the audience!

The musical was quite entertaining with dances and music (like modern pop songs, not boring classical music).

After the show, we were led from the exit of the theatre to a studio for an exclusive meet & greet session.  MF loved the set up in the studio and was more interested in taking photos with the trees and eggs than with the mascots.

Eventually we queued up to take photos with Easter Bunny, Humpty Dumpty and the cast from the earlier musical.

Easter Egg Hunt

Universal Studios Singapore Easter Eggstravaganza 2016 Blog Review 24

Remember the activity sheet we received when we purchased our ticket for the show? Inside, there were 8 Easter Egg stickers.  The task was to go around the whole park to find the 8 eggs and match them to their locations. If you look carefully, there were more than 8 locations we had to search, so the activity turned out to be a lot more difficult than Eggspected!

Eventually we figured out there would be one egg at each section of the park.  But even then, the one at Jurassic Park was just insanely well hidden.  We gave up and asked a staff where it was, and even after he pointed out the location to us, we walked two rounds around the spot and didn’t see the egg!

I am not going to spoil the game for anyone who wants to play this.  But if you want the answers, click the link below to open a new window for the answer:

MF had super a lot of fun searching for the easter eggs and didn’t complain about being tired despite walking round and round the whole freaking park.  Towards the end of the day, there was a camaraderie among all the visitors who were still searching for the easter eggs (you can easily spot one holding the paper and gazing around) and we started helping each other.  If not for the help of other visitors, I don’t think we could have completed the activity.  It was that challenging!

And after we completed the hunt, we brought our completed activity sheet to a retail store to redeem our prize!  There was a huge sense of achievement completing the Easter egg hunt and getting the prize at the end of the day.  Totally worth the $10 ticket.

Easter Buffet Lunch with Madagascar Characters

Universal Studios Singapore Easter Eggstravaganza 2016 Blog Review 29

Last but not least, there was an Easter buffet where you could dine with Madagascar characters.  This cost $38 per adult / $28 per child.

In Summary…

We had a lot of fun checking out the Easter activities at Universal Studios Singapore.  I love how Resorts World Sentosa always has seasonal activities, like this Easter activity and the Halloween activity at S.E.A. Aquarium we visited last year to keep visitors coming back.  And it wasn’t just putting up seasonal decorations for visitors to take photos with.  The activities were hands-on and there were prizes to be won, which made it very engaging for kids – even for adults!

There were two other free Easter shows on the show schedule that we missed because we were so busy hunting down the Easter eggs.  One of them was an Easter-themed Projection Mapping and I have no idea what the last one was.

As far as the paid activities were concerned, I wouldn’t mind paying $10 for them.  The musical was very entertaining (at least for me, MF didn’t seem to appreciate it much) and the Easter egg hunt was just super fun.  And the look on MF’s face when he got his prize Minion Easter egg was priceless.

Disclosure: We received complimentary tickets to Universal Studios Singapore as part of an invitation to participate in World Monopoly Day.  However, we paid for the Easter Eggstravaganza activity and we’re so glad we did![ close]
