Please note that this branch of Food for Thought is no longer in operation.
Recently wanted to meet my friends for brunch and had to find a place with a playground for MF so that I could eat in peace. Prive did not take last minute reservation, knowing how crowded they get on weekends, we decided to head to Food for Thought at Singapore Botanical Gardens instead.
The playground at Food for Thought is outdoors and unsheltered. Thankfully it was bright and sunny, not raining, when we were there!
The playground is great for toddlers, 15 month old MF had no problem playing there on his own.
There are tables just beside the playground, so I was able to sit at the table and have my brunch while keeping an eye on MF. I was able to chat with my friends from 11am to 4pm, a luxury I seldom get to enjoy as a full-time mum! I absolutely love these eateries with playgrounds, they are a real life-saver for us mums and keep us sane!
This place is great for a brunch, but in the afternoon, the playground got pretty hot.. Especially the slide that was metallic.. So it’s not so ideal for lunch or afternoon tea.
Food for Thought Revisited (19 May 2015)
After more than 3 years, it is time for some updated pics and review of this family-friendly eatery, isn’t it?
I was there on a weekday during lunch time. So I ordered the beef stew from their lunch menu (only available from 11am – 2pm).
2 year old MY immediately attacked the crackers! LOL at his caught-in-the-act face. As for the stew, the meat was a bit too hard for the 2 year old. So I just mixed the carrot and sauce with rice for him. The sauce was really good and appetizing!
They also had kids meals and I contemplated whether to order one for MY.
But I ended up ordering a french toast. There was this promotion going on. Only $6! And it was for a good cause! And I had just walked all the way here from Botanic Gardens MRT. I REALLY needed the ice-cream.
The french toast was HUGE. Luckily I did not order the kids meal. MY and I were stuffed after we finished the french toast and beef stew.
After we were done eating, we headed out to the playground.
I noticed a sign that said the playground here was intended for children aged 2 – 5 years old.
The 2 year old sure had no problem playing on his own!
There were tables around the play area for you to sit and dine while watching your kids play.
I was there on a scorching hot afternoon. But strangely enough, the playground was not very hot. I think this playground got the morning sun. But then again, the sun kind of moves around, so can’t guarantee it will always be that shady in the afternoon throuhgout the year. Maybe I was just lucky!
