Westgate Kids Club – Drop off your children and shop in peace!

3rd Review of Westgate Kids Club (25 Feb 2015)

I visited Westgate again with my friend who had a 4 year old and a 1+ year old toddler.   I had written earlier that kids below 2 years old could enter for free.  But we found out that they looked at the year of birth. My friend’s child was born in July 2013 and we visited in February 2015, they considered her child to be 2 years old.  Hence, she had to meet the minimum spending for BOTH kids.

We also enquired if our 4 year olds could be dropped off.  We were told that only children aged 7 and above could be dropped off.  Children aged 6 and below must be accompanied by an adult.

In the end, since it was raining and we could not go to Westgate Wonderland, we went to Fidgets Island at JEM instead.  You can drop off children aged 4 and above at Fidgets Island JEM while they did craft work under staff supervision.

2nd Review of Westgate Kids Club (17 Feb 2015)

I was at Westgate again with the kids and took advantage of their members free entry on Monday – Thursday before 4pm.  I did not have to spend any money at Westgate for both my kids (aged 2 and 4 who were earlier registered as members) to go in and spend 2 whole hours there!

Uh oh.. he discovered the tablet.

The 4 year old was a bit too tall for the kitchen set!

Caught red-handed ransacking the toy rack.

The only gripe I had was that the toys here were not very well-maintained.  MF found a parking garage toy and wanted to assemble it. However the pieces were not complete. He was pretty disappointed.

Either there were missing pieces, or we were too dumb to figure out how to assemble this parking garage.

1st Review of Westgate Kids Club (15 Jan 2015)

When Westgate shopping centre at Jurong East first opened, everyone was super excited over its huge free rooftop play area, Westgate Wonderland.  However, when I was there alone with 2 kids, it was very difficult for me to track the whereabouts of both kids.  Hence, I very much prefered the Westgate Kids Club located at level 5.

Minimum purchase was required to enter the Kids Club.

The minimum purchase could be met with a maximum of 3 combined receipts, so it was not  difficult to meet.  During my last visit, MY was less than 2 years old and I only needed to spend $30 (MF was already a member) to get both kids in (i.e. MY who was below 2 could tag along for free).

There were both indoor and outdoor play areas at the Kids Club.  The indoor play area had lots of activities and toys for the kids.  They could watch TV, read books, play with the Samsung Galaxy Tab Kids tablet, play with Lego, do colouring etc.

The outdoor play area was built around an Alice in Wonderland theme with some structures for kids to run and climb around, but really nothing much to keep my two super active boys occupied for long.  Do note that the outdoor play area will be closed when it is raining.

There were some activity boards which were also part of the outdoor play area and not accessible when it’s raining.

The duration for each session was 2 hours and there were enough activities to keep them occupied for the whole 2 hours.  There were toilets within the Kids Club as well as diaper-changing facility and hot water dispenser, so you pretty much have everything you need to just bum there with the kids for 2 hours. If you want, you can even buy a coffee and bring it there to drink.

The Kids Club was very quiet when I was there on a weekday (we were the only ones there) but absolutely packed and chaotic on weekends.
