Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore Family Staycation - Bumble Bee Mum

While pondering over how to spend our 8th wedding anniversary last year, my husband came across a great corporate deal for staycation at Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore (homepage).   It’s not everyday you come across a fantastic deal for this luxurious 5-star hotel overlooking Marina Bay, so we booked a room for two nights over our anniversary.

Room Types

Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore offered numerous room types – depending on the size and view you prefer.  But even their smallest room was a generous 51 sqm –  which was a treat in space-constrained Singapore!

Since we had booked with a discounted corporate rate, we expected to be put in their simplest Deluxe Kallang room which was a low-floor room facing Kallang.  However, when we checked-in, they said their King rooms were full and upgraded us to a twin room in the Elevated Kallang category.  We were more than happy to settle for a room on the 30th floor!

The moment we reached the room, the boys plastered their faces to the gigantic window with an unobstructed view of Kallang.  How awesome is this view!

In the morning, we even got a view of Singapore’s traffic jam! Lol…

And although partially obstructed due to the angle, we could also get a glimpse of the Singapore Flyer from our room!

On the other side of the corridor, the rooms faced Marina Bay.  I suggest you book a high-floor room if you want a totally unobstructed panoramic view of Marina Bay.

From our lift lobby on the 30th floor, there was a glass panel where we could look out to Marina Bay, so this is what I imagine the view from a 30th floor Marina Room would be?

Of course, if you want to have an even more exclusive stay at Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore, you could book their Suites or Club Rooms (Kallang-facing / Marina-facing).   I have actually learned from our staycation at Shangri-La Hotel Singapore that Club Rooms may seem expensive, but they could potentially offer better value-for-money if you factor in the club privileges provided.  Since the Club Rooms weren’t part of my hubby’s corporate deal, we didn’t consider them this time.  Maybe next time!

Deluxe Room Details

Here’s a 360 view of our deluxe room at Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore.  Go ahead, spin it around to have a look!

Our twin deluxe room was spacious, with room for twin beds, sofa, work desk and even a walk-in wardrobe!

I loved the little reading light in the corner of the bed head.  Reminded me of first-class seats on airlines.  I think.  Not that I have taken first-class before.  Okay, never mind.

On the work desk, we found a Tapendium with all the hotel information inside and through which we could make restaurant reservations.  Super handy! It made me feel like those ringed folders with hotel information are so passe.

The large flat-screen TV was a winner with the kids.   A wide variety of channels was available, but our TV was playing Cartoon Network almost throughout our entire staycation.  The kids became Cartoon Network fans after our visit to Cartoon Network Amazone in Pattaya – which happened shortly before this staycation.  They were squealing, “Thailand!! We saw them in Thailand!” every time a character they met at Cartoon Network Amazone came on TV.

The mini bar was well-stocked, albeit expensive.  Bottled water was complimentary.

And I just love having a Nespresso machine in our hotel room! I need a lot of coffee to function.  So I was really happy that in our room, 6 complimentary Nespresso capsules were provided and replenished daily.

Moving on to the bathroom.  OMG,  I LOVE THE BATHROOM.  Especially the bathtub-with-a-view! But uhmm… I’m pretty sure you should close the curtain (don’t worry, there is one) when you are bathing in the bathtub, especially at night.

The kids were super amused by the toiletries tray in the bath-tub and kept moving it around from one end to the other, before deciding that it was getting in their way and took the whole thing out.

Ample toiletries and towels were provided.

And there was a separate shower from the bath tub.  So we adults could still go and bath in the shower while the kids were playing in the bath tub.

Kids-Friendly Features

When we booked our stay at Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore, it was purely based on the corporate deal my husband had.  So we didn’t really read up more about the hotel.  Before our stay, Ritz-Carlton didn’t really come across to me as a super family-friendly hotel name.  I mean, there is a difference between hotels that ‘welcome families’ and hotels that are ‘family-friendly’.  The former simply means children can stay there.  The latter has facilities specially catering to families.  I kind of assumed Ritz-Carlton was the former. And I was so wrong!

When we arrived,  I immediately noticed that there was a little kids corner set up in the lobby to keep the kids entertained while parents checked-in.  With this alone, I changed my categorization of Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore from one that ‘welcomes family’ to one that’s ‘family-friendly’.

But it didn’t just stop there.  After we checked in, the kids were presented with an Adventurer Passport that they could use to go around the hotel to collect stamps.  My boys LOVE collecting stamps!

And on the other side of the lobby, at Colony, kids could pop in for free ice-cream.  It’s crazy!

That’s not all.  Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore even had a KIDS CLUB.

Ritz Carlton Singapore Review Staycation with Kids 21

Okay, I’ve been kind of spoiled rotten by Marriott Vacation Club and their definition of Kids Clubs.  So don’t expect kids clubs like what we saw at Marriott’s Phuket Beach Club and Marriott’s Mai Khao Beach.  The Kids Club here was a room with some toys for children.

There were also movie-screenings at the Kids Club.

Other than toys, there were also board games and books.

Ritz Carlton Singapore Review Staycation with Kids 26

Kids could also do colouring and drawing.

Ritz Carlton Singapore Review Staycation with Kids 25

You cannot drop off your kids at the Kids Club here unfortunately.  At least one adult needs to be at the Kids Club with the kids at all times.

Swimming Pool

Ritz Carlton Singapore Review Staycation with Kids 27

While we were there, there was some renovation works going on around the pool.  Not sure what they would have in future, but as of last December, they only had a single rectangular pool that was 1.2m deep.

Ritz Carlton Singapore Review Staycation with Kids 32

It was too deep for MY, so initially he just sat by the side and watched his older brother swim.

Later on, he decided to venture one step further and realised he could kick water while holding on to the step by the side.

Then the kids discovered that there were inflatable balls provided and the fun began!

Ritz Carlton Singapore Review Staycation with Kids 30

Then they found an inflatable boat that both brothers could ride together.  MY was super happy that he didn’t have to spend the whole morning loitering by the side of the pool.

Pool towels and bottled water were provided at the towel station at the entrance to the pool.

In Summary…

We had a very enjoyable stay at Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore.  Which turned out to be much more kids-friendly than I expected with their Ritz Kids program which included Kids Club, Adventurer Passport and free ice-cream.

I also found the service provided by the staff of Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore excellent.  For e.g. When we first arrived through the main entrance of the hotel, I was holding an empty coffee cup (remember I need a lot of coffee to function?).  The staff at the door noticed this and as he opened the door and greeted us, he asked if I would like him to throw the cup away.  I was immediately impressed.

Location wise, Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore is great for exploring the Marina Bay and City Hall area of SingaporeMarina Square, Millenia Walk and Suntec City could be easily reached via linkways.  Marina Bay Sands was also within walking distance, though you need to cross a road and cross the double-helix bridge to reach it.  We walked as far as Gardens by the Bay during our stay.
