This batik-inspired street art installation is conceptualized by street artist Slacsatu. It explores the beautiful memories, childhood dreams, colourful experiences and cultural roots of Jurong that have helped to shape the community. With the hope that such stories will be passed on from generation to generation, Slacsatu dedicated this artwork to the Jurong community, a place that has impacted his practice.
Slacsatu is one of the pioneers in the local graffiti scene. His works are influenced by the raw energy of graffiti fused with a twist of abstract flares, into which he injects the raw technical aspects of spray painting with a traditional painterly approach. Slacsatu was involved in Singapore Biennale 2013 and Chingay 2015, as well as participated in many competitions.
