Beautiful beaches, intriguing history and culture, delicious food and dirt-cheap shopping.  What is there not to love about Thailand?

Our family has been to Thailand 3 times to date.  The kids absolutely love it there.  They enjoy bumming on the beaches, eating pork trotter rice, exploring historic ruins and checking out fanciful resorts from no-stars to 5-stars.  (The only thing they dislike there is shopping.)   They cried when it was time to leave.  It’s true, I didn’t make that up.

So you can be sure Thailand has not seen the last of our family.  We will be back.  After all, it’s so near to us in Singapore!

A flight from Singapore to Thailand is only about 2 hours.  So most of the time, we fly with low cost carriers.   We don’t really need the food and drinks service for those 2 hours.  And because our family travels very light, we don’t even need check-in luggage when we go to Thailand, since thick warm clothing are usually unnecessary.

There are three low cost carriers that operate frequent flights between Singapore and popular destinations in Thailand:  Scoot, Jetstar and Air Asia.

From Singapore to Bangkok, you can fly into Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) or Don Mueang Airport (DMK).   So far I have always used Suvarnabhumi Airport.  Scoot and Jetstar operate direct SIN to BKK flights, while Scoot and Air Asia operate direct SIN to DMK flights.

From Singapore to Phuket (HKT), direct flights can be found on Scoot, Jetstar and Air Asia.
