The Chocolate Factory - Dining in Pattaya - Bumble Bee Mum

I first came across The Chocolate Factory on a post on things to do in Khao Yai on TripCanvas. Yup, Khao Yai, not Pattaya.

It was only when I visited The Chocolate Factory’s website that I found out they also had a branch in Pattaya.  So we decided to visit the Pattaya branch instead, in case we did not have time to visit the branch in Khao Yai.  And I’m so glad we did, because we ended up having one of our favourite meals in our 11-days Thailand trip here!

Don’t be deceived by the name.  The Chocolate Factory was not so much a chocolate factory per say.  It was more of a restaurant with a chocolate shop.

But there was a little ‘factory’ inside where the kids entertained themselves watching staff make chocolates while we were waiting for our food.

When we arrived at The Chocolate Factory Pattaya for lunch, we were asked if we wanted an indoor or outdoor table.  Our initial reaction was to ask for a table indoors – with air-con. But after we looked out of the huge glass windows and saw the gorgeous outdoor dining area, we changed our mind and asked to be moved outdoors instead.

We were lucky enough to get a table right next to the sea.  And OMG, the view!!  With a view like this, I don’t think I would care if the food tasted like crap.   Okay, maybe I would care.  If the food had tasted like crap, I would have made a mental note to visit the neighbouring restaurant the next time I was in Pattaya.  But the food here turned out just fine.

Since we were at ‘The Chocolate Factory’, we started with chocolate drinks.  We tried their hot chocolate (THB125++) and ice mocha (THB130++).  Remember I was with the kid checking out the ‘factory’ earlier while waiting for our food?  When I came back, the hubby had already drank half of his hot chocolate before I could take a photo.  Noooo…. But he said he had deliberately left the piece of floating chocolate for me to take a photo of it.  Ha Ha Ha.

For appetiser, we ordered fresh oysters (THB 350++).  The oysters were nice, but not as memorable as the ones I had in Akkeshi, Hokkaido.

For mains, we had their Fettuccine with tiger prawn (THB450++).  I loved their Fettuccine which was done Al Dente the way I like my pasta done.

And we saw every other table ordering a grilled lobster (THB1580++) so we had to order one as well.  It was soooo shiok! (shiok = Singlish for, ermm, awesome?)

The whole piece of lobster flesh just came off the shell and it was so fresh! I feel so hungry now just thinking of it.

For the kids, we ordered a lasagna (THB250++).

Presentation wise, the lasagna didn’t look like much, but the kids gobbled it down in big mouthfuls.  So it can’t be bad.

And moving on to desserts! We ordered a white chocolate cheese cake (THB100++).  I personally found this too sweet for my liking.

And you can’t go to a restaurant called ‘The Chocolate Factory’ and not order their chocolate lava cake (THB160++), can you?

While the lava didn’t exactly ooze out when we cut the lava cake open, it was molten inside alright.  I preferred this to the white chocolate cheesecake.

On the whole, our lunch at The Chocolate Factory Pattaya was one of the most expensive meal we had in Thailand.  But I enjoyed the whole dining experience, from the atmosphere to the view to the presentation and taste of the food.

The next time I’m in Pattaya, I’m so coming back to The Chocolate Factory Pattaya and I would try to make it for their rooftop BBQ which happens on Friday – Sunday evenings.
